To allow a wider range of users to use Mercari, we are currently working on providing the app in languages other than Japanese.
As the first step of this initiative, we have released an English version of the app that can be accessed by simply changing the app’s language settings.
Note that the app does not currently support languages other than Japanese and English.
For users who have set their app language to English, we also offer automatic translation of item titles and details.
This feature enables users without Japanese knowledge to better understand information about listed items and shop more safely.
Now, we will explain how this feature works in detail.
Notes: Update the app to the latest version in order to use this feature.
Automatic translation is not available for Mercari Shops and Mercari NFT listings.
The new feature
1. Automatic translation of item title and details
Users who have set their app language to English can automatically translate item titles and descriptions into English.
Notes: This feature generates a machine translation. The accuracy of the translation is not guaranteed.
To maintain clear communication between buyers and sellers, we ask that users in Japan continue to leave comments and exchange messages in Japanese.
2. Switch between Japanese and English
Users can easily switch between the original language of the listing and a translation of the listing.
Click the “Show original” text to see the original text, and click the “Show translation” text to display the English translation again.
How to change the app language
iOS
1. Go to My Page > Settings > System Preferences in the Mercari app and select Language.
2. In iOS settings, select your preferred language for the Mercari app.
Android
1. In the Mercari app, go to Account > Settings > Preferences, and select Language.
2. Select your preferred language for the Mercari app.
Web
1. Click Account > Settings > Preferences.
2. Select your preferred language for the Mercari.
Currently, only some features (listing, purchasing, etc.) are available in other languages. Support will be added for more features going forward.

追加された機能について
1. 商品タイトルと商品詳細の自動翻訳
言語設定を「英語」にしているお客さま向けに、出品されている商品の商品タイトルと商品説明文が自動で英語に翻訳されるようになりました。
※翻訳内容については、今後のアップデートで精度を改善していきます
※商品取引における相手とのコミュニケーションのスムーズさを保つため、日本国内の利用者間で円滑に行えるよう、引き続き日本語で行っていただけますようお願いいたします
2. 原文（日本語）との切り替えが可能に
ワンタップで原文の日本語に切り替えができます。
「Show original」ボタンから原文を確認でき、「Show translation」で再度英語に戻せます。

1. メルカリアプリ内の「マイページ＞設定＞環境設定」から「言語」をタップ
2. iOSの設定画面が開いたら、メルカリアプリの優先する言語を選択する
